Sidewinder won't work in DOS

edit: NM this Precision Pro will never work in DOS, only the original sidewinder or sidewinder 3D pro would work in DOS apparently.

I installed DOS 6.22 on an old Pentium 200 machine, so I could play my favorite old games like privateer. Got all my drivers working, sound blaster works just fine, mouse and cdrom are working, loaded qemm so I got over 600K of conventional memory. Music works in Privateer but not sound FX, I was a little bummed because Sound FX work in everything else I tried.

What really bothers me though is that my Sidewinder Precision Pro will not work in these old DOS games, it's like it isn't even plugged in. This is a plug n play joystick that never needs to be calibrated, I guess it just doesn't jive with old DOS games.

Does anyone know if it is possible to get this thing to work in DOS? I had an old flightstick that was perfect for DOS, but I gave it to my friend after I bought the Sidewinder a few years ago, and now he moved to a different town!

If you run the program in a DOS window, you might have some luck with it. Make sure that it's listed as the first device on your joystick list, though.
