i saw Quantum of Solace. The main bad guy story was easy to follow, just like in Casino Royale.
But just like in Casino Royale, the side stories are WTF?
the cia section chief looks like the same guy from Charlie Wilson's War. he plays the cia section chief exactly the same way.
WTF#1:
i thought Felix was suppose to be in charge but is instead taking orders from this guy? And this section chief says no problem to the main bad guy in getting Bond off his back? Arent the CIA and MI6 suppose to be allies?
WTF#2:
for most of the movie Bond is on his own. M wanted to reign him in, and canceled his passports and credit cards. this came about because Bond pushed one of the bad guy's henchmen off the roof. That henchman was actually a British agent working for the British Prime Minister.
WTF?!?!!? the british govt already has a mole inside the bad guy's organization?!?!?!?!?! and MI6 doesnt know/isnt told when they start investigating the bad guy?!?!
WTF#3:
At the end of the movie, Bond says to M "you were right about Vesper." Vesper was the double agent in Casino Royale. but What was that line about? i dont get it.
THe current Bond series looks more and more like Bourne. now dont get me wrong. i loved the Bourne movies. (altho creating a 4th movie to the Bourne trilogy just screams "Milk the franchise.") but i miss Q and the gadgets. And MoneyPenny.
Daniel Craig is contracted to do 4 Bond movies, so there are 2 more to go. hopefully a (realistic) gadget or 2 gets put in there. (ie: NO bullet deflecting energy shield from his watch.)
