SideKick II question

I just sold my sidekick too and the guy is telling me he needs the system password.
What passwords are on the sidekick? I though all of that was handled on the sim.

Um no because I once put in a standard prepaid card with no sidekick service in and It never asked me for a password then. I think he's BSing me .

AN update(not that anyone cares)

It appears Danger locks the IMEI number in their system, so to clear it you need to call Tmobile, they do their magic, you then run a restore on the phone and you should be good to go in theory.

Most of the time the user does not know about this, if your phone is swapped for warranty reasons, tmobles does the purge automatically.

That only happens with the Sidekick2. The Sidekick and virtually every single other phone doesn't lock the IMEI in.

What's more likely happening is that the TMobile network checks the phone serial against the SIM serial and if they don't match the network disallows the phone. Calling TM probably just means they reset the network check. If it's really the phone locking in the serial and TM can unlock it remotely, the user should easily be able to unlock it with a little time and an internet connection.

The "reason" behind the locking from what I'm told is Danger uses it as a "security" measure in case the phone is stolen and this locking only applies to the data network.
I used a prepaid sim in the sidekick II with no problems (no data plan though)
