Sidebanding woes =*( GeForce GTS

I recently purchased a gigabyte geforce2 GTS 32mb and i had no problems with it windows 2000.However i changed back to win98 and my geforce locks up in all 3d games because of no sidebanding.I know its the lack of sidebanding because i was easily able to turn it on in win2k with riva tuner and similar 3rd party tweakers,which fixed it.

But now in win98,with all the latest via drivers etc,i cannot turn sidebanding on regardless of what i do.I even used WPCREDIT and alot of 3rd party utilities and nothing works =*(.Will i have to go back to win2k to be able to turn sidebanding back on so i can play 3d games again?

I have also tried alot of detonater drivers like 6.50,7.52,10.80 but with no success,as well as riva tuner,NVtweak,GeForcetweak =/.I'ts wierd because both my M/B and v/card support sidebanding.

Any help or suggestions would be much appreciated.

what's sidebanding? and what games are considered 3d? Because i'm considering on buying the gigabyte geforce 2 gts, and i'm running on win98se, and if it has major problems with playing games, which is the reason why i'm buying it, then i won't buy it. Is counterstrike and quake 3d games? i'm guessing they are, but i was hoping you can help me on this.
