side item for pasta

So, what's your favorite side dish for pasta w/ some sort of marinara? Just trying to get some ideas out for ATOT cooks.

pasta with marinara is usually either the only thing I eat (well, maybe some bread) or it is the side item for something else.

Salad, usually. Something with raw vegetables. Peppers stuffed with feta cheese, a bit of olive oil, coarsely cut basil.. Yum!

I prefer green beans with a red sauce pasta, with a white sauce I just mix in the veggies (broccoli normally).

heh... all of you suggesting steak.. since when has steak been a side? If I'm having steak, it's the main item

Another vote for garlic bread and a tossed salad with big chunks of veggies in it. I also read marinara as marijuana :laugh:

Some sort of lettuce based salad or greek salad and go easy on the bread since that's just more of the same (as the pasta). Wash it all down with a cheeky Shiraz :wine:
