Looking to OC a 750 T-Bird to GHZ-land but I'm a virgin OC'er.

My question is how damaging is upping the bus to the other cards in the system? I have 2 NIC's, SB Live Platinum, and v7700 Pure AGP card. Just changing a few settings seems too easy...there has to be a catch. How much will it shorten the life of the components? Any help would be appreciated.

The main difficulty with overclocking is that it causes you to have a severe superiority complex causing you to be totally obnoxious to all your former friends -- - ;)

Athlon platforms can't do very high FSB speeds.

and you can't "damage" a card by overclocking it. About the wrorst you can do is erase your harddrive. As long as you're not using crazy voltages. :)

keep it within reason.. I'll say +- .25 or .3v is about as much as u want from going away from default. You really dont' need to worry aoub it.. those "damage" side effect will not even begin to shot long before your cpu became antique.

I've got the same set of periferals on SOYO 6VCA mobo with a FSB set to 143 that's PCI = 35. It works perfectly.
So in your Athlon driven machine you can increase FSB/PCI up to 105/35 and after that you can play with adding to FSB, like FSB + 10( basically I think you won't get any better than 115 total.
Means that if you increase FSB/PCI to 105/35 than you can add only 10.
Good luck.

Yeah I forgot.
It's suppose to shorten the life of your components.
So ( for example )they gonna last not 5 years but 2. at that time its basically garbage.

I'd overclock the bus anyday over the multiplier. But my A7V doesn't seem to like FSB overclocking. :( grrr

Good thing multiplier overclock is possible. I just up it to the max of 10x. Any other multipliers above that don't work and i have no idea why.

Anyway the Duron is not that expensive so...heheq
