I bought an OBDII interface recently. I'm thinking about putting up a couple of signs offering low cost (~$10-$20) automotive check engine light diagnosis and code clearing.

any thoughts on this?

I've got the hardware and software to read pretty much any 96 or newer vehicle, except for the latest vehicles that have migrated to CAN.

I think there is also an option in the software to read what the computer thinks the HP and Torque are.

I think it's a service that a lot of people could use. The hard part is going to be how to make people aware of it so they remember you when their light comes on.

Yeah...but I'd rather pay someone to do it.

But why? Aren't what Autozone and the OP would do exactly the same thing/
No...The OP isn't a corporate machine, so I don't mind paying a little extra for the service.

post it on craigslist

people are always putting random services on there... carfax lookups etc... I've started to see a lot of people that want to build my ikea furniture as well. :)
