Does anyone recommend a good (available) side blown cpu cooler that's quiet and can support intel quad core CPUs (socket 775)

side-blown as in it blows air out the side of your case, or side-blown as in it blows air perpendicular to the case (out the back)?

Well there's top-down, that sucks air in from the side and blows it down onto the motherboard. Is that it?

You can buy a Tuniq Tower 120, it fits most of the cpu sockets, including 775 and it's a very good deal on price/performance. It's very quiet, i can tell you this since i own one. If you want to make it completely silent switch the tuniq fan for a S-flex or a Noctua. You can mount it any way you think it's best, to blow air from front to back in a push-pull setup, or from bottom to top exhaust. There are a couple other coolers with side-blown depending on cpu and budget, like Arctic Freezer Pro 7.

Yeah, I don't think those are going to fit my case. This is an accessory cooler for my case but I don't want to get it. It doesn't seem like it can handle a quad core, I want something more umf.

I don't know but the size of the "recommended" heatsink uses an 80mm fan. So the height must be between 80 and 90 mm.
