Thought i should share this, popped the top on my 170 and it has made a big difference, now i have access to higher voltages and i can keep load temps below 40c. Using custom watercooling in my signature, MCP600 pump and an old TDX.

Prime-able at 3.2 Ghz with 1.56v
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v729/absolute035/Opty%20Dual/d529caf7.jpg

Run it 24/7 at 3.15 with 1.53v, folding Rosetta

all bios settings for the screenshot

Ram - 166 divider, 2.7 Vdimm
320x10
3x LDT multiplier
1.55 + 104%
1.3v LDT, 1.6v chipset

That's literally all i changed, no tweaking.

CPU is CCB1E 0550VPMW 170, 49c maxTcase, 0290 batch #
Rest of specs in sig

With ihs

1.4v = 41c laod
1.48v = 44c load
1.56v = around 47c load
1.60v = around 51c load

ihs removed
1.48v = 37c load
1.53v = 39c load
1.56v = 40c load (ambients are down a couple degrees for the screenshot)
1.60v = 42c load

So you see it holds load much better with a naked core

Thx

IHS off helps a lot, i mostly recommend it for those on watercooling though, as any waterblock is very easy to mound on a naked core. And it really pushes load down, with a naked core it is hard to get load over 40, especially if you're running a single core. I had a 3000+ venice naked, and i could pump 1.7v and still have it load at 38c.

Nice OC, must run like a mad man at 3.2. But this is the first time I heard people taking IHS off, that's neat. Looks like it works too, congrads!

taking the ihs off is very easy. read over on DFI-Street for a video tutorial. it literally takes only two minutes to get one off.

That is mine, look at the backgrounds. I got mine from the seller foureverquest and told him he could use my screenshots to sell more. Man, you should have noticed, who else has a giant picture of Eric Cartman in the background :p

As for the 3.47 Ghz screenshot, it is mine and validated under my name. And AFAIK it is still the world record overclock for a dual core Opteron.
