Sick threads in ATOT

I will start with a little personal story to make a point.
A couple of months ago I got banned by hzleyedgrl because I linked to what she claimed was out of line (and probably by forum rules she was right to) news story (yes it was on tv-news) which featured topless danish girls trying to raise attention for traffic issues in Denmark. Though I've specified it would be nsfw etc. I guess it was too offensive for the innocent souls we have around here. I don't mind that, and if it was against forum rules to post such link, then I deserved the time off.

However, I can't understand how come, bare chested beautiful danish models (in a fashion that was suitable for tv-news airing, mind you) is more offensive than some of the crap people link to more and more these days, such as: corpses pics, goatse, 2girls1cup etc. etc.
These are other than disgusting and disturbing pictures also have the potential of being MUCH more offensive than a picture of a bare chested model.

We see more and more of this shit on ATOT, and I have a feeling that more and more sick f***s (sorry for the offensive language, but that's what they are) are attracted to ATOT and share their sickness with us.

I just feel its a shame. And if AT wants to allow that sort of stuff, maybe it should have its own sick forum, but why litter ATOT?

Technically, no one posted a link to 2 girls 1 cup or the other shock videos. All posts were similar to, "Hey guys, google swap.avi and click on the first link - it's a FTP directory." There's a difference. Providing a clickable link and telling people to 'Google this' aren't exactly the same.

NSFW typically means bikini/racy pics - topless pics aren't allowed, period. And linking to goatse is still a vacation-worthy offense - if someone got away, they were lucky. As for the disgusting stuff (autopsies and stuff), I guess it's all in the name of science. 😀

1. I was referring to the general fact that people publish and discuss such materials, not the fact that the thread contained or did not contain a link.
2. NSFW is anything you wouldn't want to get caught looking at while at work. period.
3. If you're really into science, which I would seriously doubt in your case and many others, you have appropriate forums for that.
4. If most people enjoy this sick crap then it can stay for all I care, I just seriously wonder how a couple of boobs are more offensive than a guy spreading his asshole further than you would want to imagine and that's probably one of the softer examples.
5. It's a slippery road. I think ATOT needs some more strict moderation in order to bring its level back up.

A Couple of months a ago Heather was just learning the ropes of being a Mod. I'm sure now she wouldn't have locked it. I can go on about what should be allowed and what shouldn't be but I'm sure someone would bring up an instance that make me regret doing so, so I won't.
