Sick of the religion bashing

I'm not a religious person, but I'm getting sick of all the religion bashing that goes on in these boards. Make fun of a race or sexual preference, and you're flamed for being offensive. But no one takes into consideration the feelings of those who choose to have religion in their lives. Same thing goes for overweight people. There's no consideration for their feelings either. It's just being plain rude and close-minded.

I have no religion. I don't make fun of people for being religious. But I do choose to point out the flaws of an oppressive cult. See, I fight discrimination wherever I see it. In the case of the Mormon "religion" (if you can call it one), I don't like how they oppress women and African-Americans. In this particular thread, I'm against the discrimination of religious people in general.

You either have a great memory, or way too much time on your hands to search what other posts I've made. I suggest you spend less time worrying about me, and get your facts straight before you call people out, noob.

Let me clarify it for you: race and gender - we get those by birth, therefore critisizing or ridiculing someone for being born of certain color or sex is offensive and inappropriate. Religion, on the other hand, is a pure choice. I can argue or ridicule your choices to my heart's desire.

I've been here for almost two years; I think most everyone here will agree that at some point during that time I have shed my initial "noob" status. Now let's take a closer look at what you had said again:

I disagree with the major tenets of the Mormon religion, but I know some Mormons and believe them to be very nice people. Your characterization equating them with Hitler's "master race" IS offensive. I believe it to also be groundless. If you start with a relatively small seed population and introduce the concept of polygamy basic genetics tells you that certain hereditary characteristics (those of the male founders) will gradually be spread throughout the core population. It is your own prejudice that assumes a nefarious purpose behind it.

First you make a post about how you're "sick of all the religion bashing" which allegedly occurs on ATOT because to do so means that "no one takes into consideration the feelings of those" being bashed.

Then you're busted for your post which displays your great analytical skills. You first question whether the Mormon Church is a religion or a cult, and then allege that most Mormons have blue-eyes, blond hair and large teeth.

Your reply is that the Mormons are an "oppressive cult" and that you're "against the discrimination of religious people in general".

You don't see your hypocrisy? Play your games while you can. It won't take long for your "alter ego" to get banned.

Most people are 'born into' a religion too. Your parents were Jewish/Hindu/Christian/Muslim/Satanists, so you were one.

Many have religion as a habit, never start thinking for themselves, and stick to it. A few even refuse to think even if they can, as it will conflict with their religion.

And a few are so dumb that they actually turn to a religion for their 'salvation', and start typing 'G-d' instead of 'God'.
