Perhaps some type of apprenticeship program, whereas an older poster can take on a n00b and teach him the ancient ways. If the n00b goes astray, the mentor can edit/delete/ban the n00b altogether.

The whole reason the old timers are sick of newbs is because of the worthless threads that show up. Rules like these will only increase the number of worthless threads. Aside from the previously mentioned illogical nature of the rule.
