My system did the same thing once, because I installed drivers over drivers, instead of uninstalling and booting with the new hardware, then installing the new drivers then rebooting....

See i don't think you want to use the cdrom drivers, as there outdated once that cd is made if they posted revised drivers on there site, I'd check into it.

How long of a play time are we talking about,, does it only freeze or crashes on you only when you exit a game that you play for hours?,, do you get the same result same for say playing time of 3 minutes or 3 hours?
What's "playing anything" do you mean video files?
What program is running in the background when you're playing games?
Is this a whole new system? if not when did the problem start,, what new hardware was installed?

i mean play games, it is random, sometimes i play for hours and then it happens, sometimes minutes and sometimes even instantly as soon as i get in, or within seconds

I had a similar problem like this before,, at that time it was my ram. If you have 2 sticks of ram, try removing 1 stick and see if your games still crashes.,, if it still does,, test it with just the other stick this time in the same slot that it was removed from.

Are you using the onboard sound? I was crashing left and right when playing World of Warcraft on my DFI board. I was using the DFI Lanparty with the BBA ATI X800 Pro and EVERY stress test worked. I looped 3dmark 2001 for 6 hours, Prime 95 til the cows came home etc etc. Everything was ROCK SOLID. I noticed when I crashed it did so with a looping sound. I experienced this once before ages ago with my SB Live on an old school Athlon 600 system that I replaced with an Aureal Vortex that solved the problem. That said, I figured it "may" be a sound card issue. I swapped back the Hercules Game theater that I had in my old config and I'm running well since.
