I used to be but the mainstream mormons don't do it any more. There are those fringe groups that still do it though.

My best friend was a mormon when I grew up.......

according to him.....The reason for advocating polygamy used to be that the mormons were severely persecuted, and they were fearful for their very existance---so it was decided that every man should attempt to father as many children as he could......

I don't remember his reasoning now for why some sects of mormons still practice it though.

One of the things that turns my stomach more then anything else is ppl taking advantage, or molesting children. I wish we'd adopt a policy where all molesters etc...shoudl be castrated or something like that........

"This Church has nothing whatever to do with those practicing polygamy. They are not members of this Church. . . . Not only are those so involved in direct violation of the civil law, they are in violation of the law of this Church."

I can only imagine she was held for a month or two in a mountain cabin, brainwashed, and then taken around the country.

Her fighting spirit was beaten down and felt she couldn't escape anymore.
