How can you tell if you have a sinus infection? Can a sinus infection play havoc on your ears (ie. lots of throbbing pain, in shooting waves)? Finally, is there an over the counter remedy that works? Going to the doctor is not an option, as my medical insurance hasn't started at work yet.

ouchie...lots of oj and rest...motrin if you have a fever...sure sign of a sinus infection is blood when you blow your nose

Sounds like you've got a sinus infection.

You may have an ear infection. When I had a sinus infection, I had horrible headaches ... but I also had an ear infection at the same time, so I am unsure which pain was affiliated with which infection
