SI-120 just came, need help installing it

Alright, my SI-120 just came to my door with along with my Opteron 170, and Asus A8n32 Deluxe mobo.

My only question is, does it matter which direction I mound the heat sink? With the heatpipes down, to the left, right, up? I know which way to put the fan (even though it really doesn't matter), is there only one way to mount the HS?

Thx

As far as the directions on the heat pipes go, I've read articles where they were saying that it really didn't matter either way... So whatever is more convenient really.

You are only going to be able to mount it in one of two directions, either with the pipes facing the front or back of the case. Frankly, I dont think it will make much of a difference either way.

Nice choice BTW, I love my SI-120.

I found it.

Question 13 My Thermalright heat sink has heating pipes. Does it matter if I position they up or down?

Answer : Our heating pipe system is designed to work both ways. Having the heating pipes facing up or down depends on how they fit your motherboard best.

I had mine installed away from my RAM. It depends on you mobo but I would put the pipes either :

> away from other heat sensitive parts (i.e. RAM, Chipset, etc). It's goign to give off ambient heat so don't add it to other components.
or
> in the area of best airflow.

This is also the order of preference (after all you'll already have a fan on it).
