SI-120 issue

so i was trying to install my SI-120 last night and was bolting on the retention bracket they supplied when one of the screws snapped. =/ here's the good part, half of the screw isn't stuck in the retention bracket, that would have been easy. it was stuck on the motherboard.

/sigh has this ever happened to anyone? i tried flipping the motherboard over and shaking it, but i can't dislodge the broken screw. is there anything i can do, or do i need to buy a new motherboard?

guess i should have known it wasn't my night, the laptop HD i ordered didn't work either.

Sorry that happenned to you.

I usually just tighten my bolt tight enough to stay in place...then I tighten each bolt a little tighter jumping back and forth between bolts until all are snug tight!!

Nah, I didn't have any issue like that when my wife was installing her SI-120. Sorry to hear about that...

Hmm.... never heard of that happening.

Maybe you could use a really small drill bit to drill into the broken portion of the screw and then use the bit to try to back it back out.

yeah that's what i do when i screw things in. this particular screw just broke. i wasn't even torquing it down or anything. =/

i emailed Thermalright, because i couldn't think of anything else to do. i doubt they'll be able to do anything about it.

i'm going to try and dislodge that screw again this weekend. i guess if i can't get it out, my only other option is to buy another motherboard? /sigh

yeah i'll give that a try, thanks for the suggestion. i really don't want to spend another 200 for another motherboard.
