Your shuttle can't actually send HDTV quality signals.

Your options:

1) Get an ATI graphics card and the HDTV dongle
2) Get a VGA->HDTV converter
3) Buy an HDTV output card

Step one, figure out what resolution(s) your TV supports.

Step 2a: if highest is 480p, get a cheap RCA dongle off eBay, as 480p is 640x480, and anything can run that.

Step 2b: if highest is 720p or 1080i, look into some of the ATi cards with the HDTV transcoder. Other cards are capable of outputting HDTV, 'specially with the assistance of PowerStrip, but ATi is the easiest solution.

Step 3: ???

Step 4: PROFIT!

Terry, step # 2 is a bit confusing.

If his HDTV supports VGA/RGB input, then he's all set- most HDTVs don't- they only have Component inputs (Y, Pb, Pr), and for that not even a "RCA dongle" as you call it, will give him 480p support. He will be able to use the Shuttle's video output for interlaced NTSC output, but that's not even close to a progressive RGB output which he wants.

The SV24 has a PCI slot, correct? As a last resort you might want to consider a PCI ATI card like the 9200, but just make sure it supports the VGA-Component dongle, they all don't.

Damn the english language. In this instance, I actually meant the company RCA. They make a transcoder that converts VGA to YPrPb. It really does all the necessary luminance conversions. They show up all the time on eBay for <$100.
