I can't tell you what your temps are going to be, since that varies with every situation, but I can tell you that in general, it's relatively quiet. The fans are thermally controlled, so as temps rise, fans speed up. You can actually set in the BIOS what temp you want the fans to speed up at. When the fans are moving fast, it's semi-loud, but not bad. When they're just going to keep things decently cool, it's pretty quiet.

I haven't heard the SN41 but I've heard all the other variations of the Shuttle cube and I wouldn't call them particularly quiet. The PSU fan is an annoying little 40mm jobby and you need to swap out the heatsink fanfor a quieter one too.

Here's a recent thread about Shuttle noise.

Sudhian Forums. This is the place to go to learn about Shuttle boxes.

Of course... that thread is about the SV25. I think that the newer versions of the XPCs are more refined. BTW... I'm still looking for a quieter 40mm fan. :)

No this isn't quite. Noise level review link

"The main shortcoming of the mini PCs, and of the AMD system in particular [the sn41g2], is the amount of operating noise they generate. In fact, the heat-pipe fan creates so much racket that we feel it's safe to say that this PC will not be gracing many offices any time soon. The same thing applies to the Intel system, although it doesn't have heat-dissipation problems on the same scale as the AMD machine. A sure-fire remedy would be a carefully developed thermal design that directed the airflow effectively"

I doubt it. Remember, that 80mm fan is the only cooling fan for the entire system. It has to do the cooling for the HDD, optical drives, RAM, Vidcard and CPU. That's asking a lot for a pretty low power fan in a case that has pretty poor airflow. Read the Sudhain Forums for more info on this subject.
