hey all, here's the set up:
Shuttle XPC SK41G (FX41 mobo)
Western Digital 40 GB HD
Generic 512MB PC2100 ram
Asus 52x CD rom drive
AMD athlon XP 1500+

so, no body i know has problems with this thing in this way, except me.
The system literally takes 30 seconds to go from Post to the screen where it says "verifying DMA pool."
From there, if i boot off CD to XP setup, it hangs at a black screen after the "setup is inspecting your configuration"
if i try to boot off disk into DOS, it hangs after "verifying DMA pool" and just sits there with a blinking cursor.

I have no clue why this is happening, anyone with any ideas?

hmm, I usually have installation hangs when the setting in BIOS is not right. Perhaps you can try the following(I am assuming all parts are in working condition, i.e either they are all new parts or they worked before).

1. Reset your BIOS by unplug all power resources, i.e power cable, and the BIOS battery wait for like 5 mins, then clear your BIOS using the onboard jumper.

2. Make sure the memory timing is set to auto or not thing above the manufacture suggesting speed and settings.

3. Make sure the jumper setting on your CD rom and HD are proper. I usually put them on cable select, if cable select doesn't work, try set them specificly as primary or secondary.

4. Make sure BIOS is not set to catchable.

5. Perhaps you can try to flash the BIOS.

I hope this will help.
