Spec:
- shuttle fn45 motherboard
- bios version - latest.
- nvidia fx5700 graphics with 128 MB ram
- crucial 256 MB RAM (*2 = 512MB in total)
- 80GB maxtor hard disk
- 2800+ amd xp processor (extreme)

the system does not post with the fsb set to 166, which is the defauilt for 2800+. with 100 and 133 fsb, the system works and can load and boot xp, but results in lower cpu rating (due to lower fsb setting). i have tried the latest bios update, different type of RAM, different graphics card, but the same problem appears. I assume the problem could be with the motherboard, but am not sure. i have 7 of these systems with the same spec and the same problem occurs in all of them. Any ideas anyone???

Thanks,

Does your motherboard have jumper settings for fsb? My gigabyte board has a little dip switch from 100/133 as well as settings in the bios. Also, double check the imprint on your cpu's to make sure you didn't get screwed and actually recieve xp2400's or something.

Ditto- I had the same issue with an ecs board I built up- But you would think that with all of the advacements motherboards would be jumperless by now
