Do shuttles provide enough space to fit normal pc components?
what are the disadvantages and advantages to getting a shuttle over a atx case?? Advantages would obviously include the space it DOESN"T take up. any others?
please also name some disadvantages. Would temperature be one since the components are so close to eachother???

The PSU is a custom size so you cant always fit alternatives into it - Its always a good idea to plan on the motherboard and power supply being un-upgradeable and then if you find something down the road that fits you can reevaluate at that time. If youre good with a Dremel you might have a little more flexibility with what will and will not fit.

There are some other good solutions if youre looking for the rough size of a Shuttle but want a little more flexibility with the sizes. What are you using it for? Lan parties? Media Center?

You can get a nice flexible Hornet at Monarch with a 3200+ retail box CPU and ASUS A8N-VM u-ATX motherboard and 350W Power supply and 6 mo warranty for $550 - http://www.monarchcomputer.com/Merchant..._Code=80411&Category_Code=AMDBarebones If you prefer do it yourself you can get something like the Lian Li PC800B - http://www.sundialmicro.com/Lian-Li-pc800b-htpc-desktop-case_1756_411.html - Which accepts full sized ATX power supplies so you can basically pick your own parts as long as you use a u-ATX motherboard. If youre making a media center I suggest the Antec Overture II - http://www.antec.com/us/productDetails.php?ProdID=15730 - comes with a real quiet 450W power supply (just dont plug in the power supply fan monitor to the motherboard.)

I recommend mATX cases rather than the shuttles. mATX are a little bit bigger, but at least you can choose different motherboards and depending on the case, different power supplies as well.

Go with the hornet then. You can build a full X2 4800 with 7800GTX, 2GB PC3200 DVD/CD RW, and 400GB RAID0 all under the specs of that supply. Its good people

for mATX and shuttles, you can still fit most components in there right? I'm thinking of:
epox nF4 sli or ultra, A64 3200+
6800GS
2 x 512 OCZ or Crucial ram
seaggate HD less than 20GB probably.

P.S. thanks for the suggestion ping to the pong, i'll check it out

Components such as CPU, RAM, Video Card, Optical drives, hard drive, yes.

Fans, motherboards, PSU's, more often then not, no.
