I'd like info on any comments about running Linux on the nforce2 boards. I plan on getting this motherboard soon and want to run Slackware on it. Anybody know what I'll have troubles with? I'm looking at a Shuttle MN31N.

Dual VGA-out: I have a 4400, but I'd like to know how this will run. I'm expecting no troubles here.

Audio (ALC650E): Mostly worried about this. I don't demand high quality, just want to listen to MP3s and maybe play some games (CS/WC3?).

1394/USB 2.0: How's the support with newer kernels?

Again, I'd like info on any comments about running Linux on the nforce2 boards. Thanks for any help, and if it's in the wrong section, can someone point me to the next one? Thanks =D

I wouldn't say this is the wrong section, it's just that the Linux gurus hang out in Operating Systems, and hardly make a showing here.

Start a topic there like "Linux with nForce2 s*cks" and every linux geek will reply, if they don't try to kill you first. Just kidding. But you get the idea.

Looks like a good site. I'll try to do better homework next time. Thanks for both of your replies.

i have this board, and am wondering too. i want to eventually switch my main machine to linux from winxp, and just run xp on my secondary box (want to slowly wean myself away, since i am getting tired of promises of drm etc in windows 2006)

the audio is nforce 2 mcp-t and nvidia has traditionally had good support for linux, so hopefully it works.
