that isn't a shuttle case though, is it?

not a bad price though; not gonna be able to put the fastest processor in there, but certainly good enough for a cheap dvd/divx viewer.

Eh, I decided to buy this, even though I already have a Shuttle SS51g. Thought this might make a decent pvr/mp3 player for my living room. I selected "in store pickup", so it came out to $139.64. I already have extra parts laying around, so hopefully this will be a pretty decent deal. Anyone else have this puppy?

Well, it's not like you need a total monster machine in these things. P3s still come faster than 1 GHz, and that's more than most people need to begin with.

Damn straight. The computer my family's been using the last years has varied from a PIII 500 to a 750 oc'd to 930, and I haven't heard a single complaint from them. The only one complaining is me, because it doesn't crack RC5 blocks fast enough!

Eh, that may not be a Shuttle case, but it looks mighty close to the Shuttle SV25 case (the Shuttle XPC that is based off the FV25). If I had the money or the use for one, I'd buy it.

Does anyone know if this computer supports digital sound out? Will it pass and AC3 signal to my reciever? If not its a tough choice between dropping a new sound card or an ALL In Wonder in there.

Oh yea I got a 1.2 ghz Celly and I couldn't be happier, according to sandra benchmarks it is within like 2% of a 1.2ghz Athlon (non-XP). And the heat output is next to nill, I got it running with the stock heatsync with the fan at 7v and my cpu temp is NEVER above 3 to 4 degrees above ambient temp (in Farienheight). Great for a file server/PVR box!

Waste the one PCI slot on a PCI AIW? ew.

If they would only put an AGP slot in these things... ;)

This would still rock for my wife.

Standard shipping is $28.10 to North Alabama. Oh well, too much for me.

FYI I have a Shuttle SV25, this is exactly the same system. I suspect that some Tiwanese manufacter decided to rebadge the thing, power buttom, even the motherboard looks exactly the same.

If I could have gotten one from Canada I'd have been **ALL OVER** this!! :( :( :(

As it is, I found a decent deal on the Shuttle SK41G for about $220 US which uses the Athlon XP and has AGP. I'd have been VERY happy with one of these little boxes though! :(

I still use a PPro 180 mhz oc'd to 200 mhz on occasion. Of course, it has scsi hdd's, so it's a little faster than usual. You really don't need much for a mp3 player and this should fit the bill nicely. Anyone got any deals on some P3 chips?

I bought one of these earlier this week and yes, it is indeed an sv25. Even has the shuttle manual. Two questions thought, where can I get the modem riser card (there's some sorta connector on the board for one) and how do I secure the pci cards I put in there? there doesn't seem to be an obvious way to screw in the pci card so it doesn't fall out....

That's a Chyang Fun CF-7989-EPM case. I'd say that the barebones is a good buy, since the case itself, without a power supply, costs around $100. There's a review of it at www.mini-itx.com.

This is very similar to the SV25. I got a refurb sv25 from newegg a couple months back for about this same price
so new this would be a good deal for a system for most everything except gaming though. Mine came with the
900 mhz C3 proc runin at 133 fsb--->sloooww as shiite and stutter frames on divx movies even straight off the HD. grabbed a 1.2 cely and all is well, I can even play a little max payne in there on the big screen :) def nice little box for the price, I use mine to mostly play divx movies streaming from my server thru a gigafast usb 802.11 client on a Netgear MR814 AP----->no dropped frames :)
