I had been looking a stricktly passive cooling video cards for a Shuttle G5 PC for my wife but lately I have been worried about airflow in the box.

The card I was looking at was an ATI-9550. I was not real happy about putting an ATI in an Nvidia chipset box but I could not find a decent passive Nvidia GPU.

To sum it up. I want a quiet video card that will work well in the sff box. The wife mostly crunches numbers and does word processing.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Bob

You might as well get a card with a fan. Stick with ATi though, as they tend to be quieter and running an ATI card on an NVidia chipset isn't a problem BTW. The slight noise the AGP cards fan will make will be drowned out by the case anyway. If you really want silence, don't get an SFF.

Thanks! So you agree that there may not be enough airflow in the SFF box for a passive card? I had been thinking of an 9600xt just in case I needed a quick lan party of UT2k4.

thraxes or anyone,

Do you have a silent pc case/power supply reccomendation? I am concerned about noise from the SFF boxes. Space is not an issue.

Thanks,
Bob
