that's basically how i did mine, but i didn't remove the dvd-rom's bezel.. too much work
just put dvdrom back on the 3rd screw-set and cushion taped the trimmed shuttle bezel to the tray and put a 1 sided sticky on the eject button.. looks good and works well, but if you look at it closely you can see the metal needs sanding..
so it isn't exactly flush, needs to go back 1/16 of an inch, and i'll look at that issue tonight.
don't know what i can do other than make more drill holes in the drive tray, but i don't have a drill.. so it may just have to do..
