Thought this was a great deal

Newegg has this great SFF barebones for $253 - went to Biostar's website to make sure I had the most recent bios and saw this $40 rebate http://www.biostar-usa.com/rebates/ideqrebate01210221.pdf

The reviews have been awesome....

Has a sliding cover to hide those beige or black components we all have (shuttle doesn't) - has serial ata (shuttle doesn't) - they reversed the agp and pci slots on the board so your video card fits perfect.

You can save a whole $4.00 (w00t!) by ordering at excaliberpc, and they also offer a free carrying bag.

Personally, the lack of 400 MHz FSB is pretty important. For those not following the AMD chip market, the current chips are multiplier locked. The current "hot upgrade" is taking an $85 Barton "2500+" and clocking it up to a "3200+" or higher via the FSB/mem.bus. This computer will limit you to close to the stock 166/333 FSB.

One alternative would be to buy a cheap NF2-400 microATX motherboard in the $55-65 pricerange, and put it into a $40-50 microATX case. This saves you money, is upgradeable in the future, and might look just as nice (check out the micro cases at Directron, or at Newegg -- such as the Athenatechs). Personally, I prefer the rectilinear ratios of a microATX case; the squarish "lunchbox" tiny computers are just too squat (or something. . . can't put my finger on it).

For LAN parties, this Powmax from Newegg for $44 delivered isn't much of a looker, but the handle makes it highly portable. You also won't cry if you scratch the finish. ;)

Hmm, reading through the user reviews on Newegg, there's mention of the new BIOS allowing overclocking beyond 200 MHz. Can anyone confirm whether this works? Or is this just "potential" overclocking?

I am running a 200N right now :) I am also running my 2500 Barton @ 3200 speeds, DDR400 with no problems at all. It is an awesome machine, and very overclocker friendly. The one that limits overclocking is the Shuttle SN41G2.

If you are in the market for SFF, this is an awesome choice

Be careful of Biostar rebates. It's been 3 months now and many phone calls still have not gotten my $15.

Bump, I'd also like to know if anyone has tried the Biostar Remote Control.
My fingers are itching to press the submit order button, please hurry!

Thanks for the hot deal!

Dammit! OOS at Excalibur. I don't really need the bag, but it's free. Guess that I will wait to see if if comes back in stock.

C'mon - Take a drill and for 4 rivets and a piece of belt you can add a handle to any small metal tower. If ir's plastic - use glue :)
