I just purchased a Shuttle AK35GTR. At about the same time I purchased some Kingmax memory. I'm a little worried now because I see from the .pdf on Kingmax's site that the memory is "Non-parity, ECC." The board's doc says "No ECC function support." Is it gonna work?
Anything special I'll have to do? My CPU should be here tomorrow (shoulda been here today... I just love UPS :| )

I think I worried for nothing. I saw this in Crucial's FAQ:

<< Most motherboards that do not have an ECC function within the BIOS are still able to use a module with ECC, but the module will run in non-ECC mode. Keep in mind, there are some cases where the motherboard will not accept an ECC module, depending on the BIOS programming. >>

I think, though, that I misinterpreted Kingmax's doc anyway because I saw also in Crucial's FAQ that

<< ...the terms "non-parity" and "non-ECC" are both used to describe memory that does not have any error detection or correction abilities. >>

So "non-parity, ECC" seems like a contradiction, Kingmax must've meant something like "non-parity, i.e. non-ECC" maybe. Lastly, that same FAQ states

<< If the number of chips is NOT evenly divisible by three or five, you have non-parity memory. >>

I just counted the chips on my module... there are 16. I'm not great at math, but even I know 16 ain't evenly divisible by 3 or 5. I feel much better already!
