I have a Shuttle AK31a (Rev 3.1) MoBo and am currently using 1 - 256mb stick of Crucial PC2100 Unbuffered DDR-Ram.
I have no problems running my Duron 700 at 150 x 6.5 (975mhz).

As the prices come back down, I would like to add one or two more 128mb or 256mb sticks of ram to this board.

When using more that 1, or more that 2 sticks, do they need to Buffered or will Unbuffered modules work?

From the looks of this page you should use ECC (at least the ones from Crucial are listed as ECC). But there is a list of "acceptables" on that page anyway.

EDIT: The link would not go directly to the page so when you get to the site look at the VIA chipsets and go across to "Socket A" and click the down arrow. Select AK31 and it will take you to the listings.

only if you use all 4 slots do you need REGISTERED memory.

but you are going to run into voltage supply problems if you load RAM in adjacent slots in banks 1 & 2 or 3&4, unless you have a biggo psu. (and I mean big)
