* the onboard sound was working fine at first...then it would cut out after a few hours....then I updated to VIA's newest driver and rebooted it....

** It worked fine but upon another reboot in the morning, the sound stopped working all together...and now whenever there should be sound, there's a system beep!

*** I disabled the AC97 in BIOS, disabled it in Hardware Settings, and it STILL beeps??

**** How can get ALL of the old drivers out of there so I can do a fresh clean install of VIA's drivers?
I don't know the exact names and locations of all the drivers. Would clearing CMOS help? maybe a BIOS flash?

check the hardware monitor in the bios, sounds like it may be giving you a warning of some sort (fans rpm speed too low, temps too high, ect..)

well the temps seem fine in the 40'sC, but the system beep only happens when there's suppose to be sound. Like while chatting on AIM, instead of the usually annoying DING, i get the even more annoying BEEP

however, if I turn off my sounds on AIM, then no more BEEPs.....

I really thing there's something up with the AC97...anyone have similar experiences/fixes? what bothers me is that even if I disable the AC97 sound in BIOs, there's still beepin from the board!
