I just picked up the Canon 70-200 F/2.8 IS II yesterday and it is a damned nice lens with great bokeh. Wide open it is very sharp, and at F/4 it is just as sharp as my trusty 70-200 F/4 IS wide open.
Both lenses AF are just as quick as each others for outdoor and indoor (not extreme low light), and the draw back is that the F/2.8 weight twice as much and cost almost twice as much as the F/4.
