The problem with win98 freezes at shutdown is pretty well known.
But is there any way of fixing it? Any update, patch or is it just a setupthing?

If there is any patch (which i´ve heard about), could someone plz post it here, because i can´t find it.

Thx.

That one won´t work.
Still freezes.
After you have reset and restarted the comp, the shutdown is no problem.

From what i´ve learned, the problem is caused by the hd cachememory, that doesnt have enough time to empty itself before shutdown, and the computer freezes.

There have to be some way to get rid of this problem. please help.

Click on START\WINDOWS UPDATE. That should take you to the MS windows update site for your version of Windows. Click on the appropriate update icon and you should then see a list of updates that are available for your version of Windows.

Criticle updates should be downloaded first. Click on each critical update you wish to download. Then click on the DOWNLOAD button and then the rest is automatic. Auto downloads the file then auto installs it for you. Follow on screen instructions.

Then there may be a list of other non critical updates you can select or not.

I got the shutdown upgrade for Win98 like that last year. 🙂
