Shutdown PSU delayed by 30sec?

I just re-installed Vista x64 after using Win7 for the last month. (had win7 on a temp drive waiting for my Raptor RMA to return) but now i have a strange problem.

If i shutdown and/or tell my machine to go to sleep, the OS shuts down as normal but once windows is down my computer stays running for about 30 seconds longer and then my PSU turns off. I find this so weird that it did not happen until i re-installed my raptor and put vista back on. Win7 work just as it should for shut-down sleep operations.

The only thing i can think of is that windows has some how confused my ICH10R unit with a cold reset command that is slightly different than the one it should be getting? I've already tried to reinstall chipset drivers no luck.

This is for the EP45-UD3P mobo with X9750 CPU computer listed in sig.

Is there a problem? My machine takes a bit of time to go to sleep, but it works fine.

The problem is everything turns off except for the Power Supply, Windows turns off quick, I hear the hard drive spin down.. there is just the fans and LED's on the Mobo on for 30s to 1min then the PSU will shut off.

This has to be a problem with the Legacy (ICH chip) or Mobo's Platform power management chip...

It is weird i did not have this problem on Win7, so it is most likely a Driver Problem or a Windows Settings problem causing something in the pipe line to be delayed before Full Power Off.

I don't know. I just figured that's the way it worked. I'm happy it works as well as it does. Hibernate sucked in XP.

lol, no it isn't how it is suppose to be. Once Windows is off should not take no longer than 1 sec to turn everything thing else off.

But it isn't just my sleep, when i do a shut down it also does this delay.

My power off shuts everything down right away. Once I'm out of Windows, the whole machine dies.

My EP45-UD3R does this also, and I've seen it on another similar machine. The cpu fan has a short 2 second delay on cold boot on both machines, which I find odd.
That said, the machines work fine with these quirks, and seem typical for whatever reason. Both machines running Vista or W7.
