Shutdown problems with a GF2

Hi guys, system specs below. Am using nVidia's latest drivers. Whenever I got shut down, the PC will eventually get to a blank screen, requiring a manual restart then shutdown, resulting in a scan disk on next boot, anyway to prevent this bad shut down?
