Shutdown problem with A7V

I am having problem with shuting down my A7V with W98 SE. The computer won't shut down for some reason. BIOS 1005C, VIA driver 4.25(a). Hardware consists of A7V, Athlon 850mhz, 2x 128MB PC133, Maxtor 20GB ATA100 on Promise controller, DVD drive and Zip250 on secondary channel of onboard IDE. MSI 8816 Geforce MX video card. Intel Pro100/+ NIC, SB Live! and AHA 2906 SCSI controller. I tried to flash back to BIOS 1004D, originally came with the board then it shuts down properly. Any idea why? Thank you in advance.

That happened to mine, too. I changed the OS to Win2000.
Have you checked your Power management in Control Panel?
Go to the Power icon and double click. Then select one of the tabs that lead to "enable advance power management" (Sorry, I am not at my computer - so I don't remember the exact wording of the title/tab).

Enable it - that's what worked for me. Hope it will for you.
