Shutdown = OK, Restart = LOCKUP

When I select START / SHUTDOWN the PC shuts down with no problews, if I select START / RESTART it locks up on the final Windows screen, the one with the clouds.

I had some time to waste, so I decided to reload everything from scratch, guess what...it still locks up at RESTART.

I am running:

P3B-F / PIII-850 non-overclocked
Gainward Ti200 /XP500 Golden Sample
Windows 98SE
384MB ram

Anyone have a suggestion?

Thanks!

Mitch

Try this:
Start > Run > msconfig
click on General tab > click on Advanced button > check "Disable Fast Shutdown" > click on OK.
Also there is a patch for hard drives with large buffers to help prevent Shutdown-time problems. Check on MS web site for it.

p.s. There is a very good web site that has lots info about startup/shutdown problems in Win
Widows Support Center as well as a number of other issues, tips and links to other Win support related pages.
