OK, here is the story...

I am using Motherboard Monitor 4 on Windows 2000. What I want to do is run a program that will power down my computer if an alarm goes off.

Previously, others pointed me to the NT4 resource kit with a program called shutdown.exe. Problem is, when it shuts down Win2k, it does not POWER DOWN the computer. Thus, when shutdown.exe is run, Win2k shuts down, and my CPU fan stops, BUT THE COMPUTER STILL HAS POWER AND THE CPU CONTINUES TO HEAT UP!!

I also tried ShutDown Now! with the same results.

What I need is something that will POWER DOWN (or hibernate) the computer by running some program or script. I have the ACPI drivers installed and when I shut down the computer from the start menu it does power down just fine.

I don't know how to use windows scrtipting host, so if that is your suggestion, please tell me how.

Any takers?
