every now and then when i shut down my pc, i get a blue screen that gives me an error. it freezes my whole system and i can only shut it down by holding down the power button. the message i get is "DRIVER_IRQL_LESS_OR_EQUAL." it rambles on saying that some of the new hardware bios may need to be updated. but i havent installed any new hardware. and it only happens from time to time. i also get these codes.

tech info:
*** stop: 0x000000D1, 0x00000008, 0x00000008,0x00000000, 0xBA6D0986

*** si3132r5.sys address BA6D0986 base at BA6CD000 date stamp 443D27A2

please shed some light on this. thank you.

The first question I would ask is:

Are you using a "Raid" array on your pc? In other words, do you have multiple hard drives set up in a Raid configuration? The driver that's crashing is the Silicon Images SATARAID 5 driver.

If you aren't using Raid on your system, I would disable your Raid Controller in the bios, for starters.

Then, if the Raid controller still shows up in your Device Manager, uninstall it from there and reboot. Still shows up? Disable it and reboot.

Now, if you ARE using Raid, your driver might be outdated. Here's the most recent Silicon Image SATARAID 5 driver (your Raid controller driver). Of course, don't install this if you're not using Raid. Follow the instructions above, instead. Driver here:

ok, i am using two WD 74 10,000's. so i am running raid0. in that link, i have no clue what to open to update my bios. it seems like they are all text formats, except for one of the files. the si3132r5.cat file. in that file, i have no clue what to choose.
