Alright so about a week ago I began suffering seemingly random shut-offs (Cut to black, no sound, lights on, fans running.). I cleaned out the case hoping the issue was caused by excess dust and updated the bios. The shut-offs have stopped but the problem now is that I cant load windows while overclocked, when I try I get bsod. I have run a memtest successfully for several hours.

The previous overclock was 3GHz. (13x331)

Well My immediate response is the hardware was not made to " Over Clock ".
Why are you worried that it will not do it?
Will it boot and run without the over clock?
If so the answer is simple .... Don't over clock.
If not you may have damaged the CPU from over clocking.

Reinstall Windows without the over clock and see if it will boot.

I'm not overly worried, I just want to make sure its the cpu and not something else entirely, besides I could use an upgrade anyway. Hold on I've got an idea, I'll run prime 95 from the boot disk while overclocked.

Sorry I'm just not that confident in my ability's, I confirmation that I'm heading in the right direction.

Alright, I ran a CPU stress test all night without errors while overclocked.

Could it really be windows considering it runs fine when not overclocked?

What memory test did you run?

Run the Windows native memory test from booting the DVD overnight and see what it says.

Yes it could be you installation. You could try reinstalling with the over clock in place.

Why over clock? Max problems for Min gains.
