A few weeks ago my biostar AMD based rig decided to start dying out on me,
so I did what anyone with the knows how to put together a PC would do...
I hopped on newegg and bought a whole lotta new pc.

Im going to list what I purchased and what I used left from the old rig.
(i dont recall if I am allowed to post links in this forum so I am going to play it safe)

G.SKILL 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) Dual Channel Kit Desktop Memory Model F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ - Retail

ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 7 Pro 92mm CPU Cooler - Retail

Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 Kentsfield 2.4GHz LGA 775 Quad-Core Processor Model HH80562PH0568M - OEM

GIGABYTE GA-EP35-DS3L LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Intel Motherboard - Retail

What I had left from the old rig was:

an nVidia GeForce 8800 GT OC

Antec Sonota II with the 450 PSU

Standard DVD and CD roms.

I installed everything correctly to the best of my knowledge and tossed all needed files onto my portable hd. Reformatted, installed a fresh copy of Vista Ult.

I left my pc on overnight while my friend sent me the ISO's I did not have for programs I had rights to. I woke up this morning and my PC was off. A little worried, I turned my PC on, and my fans all kicked on to full speed and did not slow down.

After a little thinking I tuned the power off, as well as the main switch on the back, unplugged the power and opened the box up. It looked like everything was in right. Just to be safe gave the RAM a bit of a shove to make sure it was in. Closed the case and set it all up again. Pressed power and it fired right up.

Does anyone have any idea what is wrong here? Do I have faulty ram? Did I not plug the ram in hard enough? This is the second time I had a problem that I believe is ram / mobo to ram connection issue. I am really baffled here.

Vista by default puts your machine into "Sleep" you need to configure the power utilization profile, and you should be ok
