I just instaled also the service pack 1 for Windows XP pro, and i don't know what's happening now!!!!

In "Event Viewer", appears some errors like "IPNATHLP"..."W32TIME".....There is one "Warning" about "Dhcp"......These events tell you something???

Are you saying you don't have the option to shutdown? Are you logged in as "administrator"? If not check to see if you are logged in as someone with administrative rights. if not, log in as administrator and make yourself an Administrator, log back into the account then see if you have the ability to shut down..

Y2KC, Yes, i'm logged as administrator!! Yes, the option "shut Down" appears in the "shut down's menu"!!!What's happens it's just, when i want/choose the option shut down, to turn off the computer, it's just restart, and don't turn off!!i must say that the option stand by, don't work also, or crush my computer!!

You'll find people here will try to help, but there is no reason to post replies every half hour until they do.

Uncheck reboot on errors and then try to shut down. If any error messages come up write them down and let us know.

Right click "my computer" select properties, then the tab advanced, click the start up box and deselect reboot on errors.
