Shut down applications at a certain time?

Is there a way to shut down applications after a certain amount of time in a Windows OS? Let's say I am using FTP and I know a download is going to take about 30 minutes. Is there a way I can have the FTP program quit after 45 minutes without being at the computer? Let me know. Thanks.
