Shure E2Cs acting weird

After not using my Shures for a while (not going anywhere where I'd need headphones) and just listening to my Z-5500s when at home, I just plugged them into my iPod, and there's virtually NO low-end whatsoever. I tried fidgeting around with all the EQ settings, and it still sounds like crap. I might have just been spoiled by the speakers, but god these sound HORRIBLE. I don't know what might've happened to the headphones in the month I didn't use them, as my stuff tends to get treated like crap around here, but I'm certain they never sounded like THIS. I'm going to try them out on a friend's Zen Touch to see if the iPod is the problem, but if it is in fact something wrong with the earbuds, how good is Shure with warranty service? I've had the headphones since the beginning of June, so they should still be under warranty, right?

Have you listened to them on your iPod prior to this? You're not using any EQ settings on the iPod are you?

iPod's have a pretty neutral sound, and the lowest frequencies are attenuated somewhat to improve battery life. It's possible that the iPod is the issue and not your E2Cs, but I love the way my E2Cs sound on my iPod.

Well, they sounded like crap at first, but when I was fiddling with the EQ I noticed my iPod had been set to "Small Speakers", I set it to "Jazz" like I usually keep it for a little high and low boost, cause the Shures kinda exaggerate the mids, and it seems a bit better now. Something still sounds wrong though.

You should turn off the EQ entirely. The iPod's EQ settings have been known to add distortion and noise to the sound.

Yes the distortion added by the EQ is intolerable. Leave it OFF always.

Have you tried listening to music on your computer with your headphones as to rule out the ipod being the problem

Definitely try another source.

Also make sure they are seated properly in your ears without a good seal you'll get no bass.

Above and also try the next size lower ear fit sleeve.
