Shrouding Scythe Ninja?

About a month ago a put together the system in my sig, and i've been playing with tiny tweaks inside the case to try and get the best possible cooling of of the ninja. One thing that i've noticed is that when i pull the side of the case off while the system is running if i put my hand above the ninja (to the side of the flow) i can feel some air pulling out of the side of the heatsink. I was wondering if perhaps a sort of shroud on the sides that would force all of the air to go all the way through the heatsink would improve performance even more? Anybody have any ideas on this?

I've had similar thoughts. Shroud the Ninja, extending it as a vent to the rear fan. This way you can use one fan for both purposes with (hopefully) performance similar to two separate fans while having noise characteristics of only a single fan. Better yet, have the fan on the Ninja and none on the case. That way, less vibrations transferred to the case and less noise escaping out of the case.

Sadly, as with most of my incredible ideas, they remain unrealized because my system is pretty much performing quite well without me having to mess with it, so why fix something that isn't broken?

I 'm not sure if it would help. I remember reading about it in one of the reviews, it's to do with air flow, and that because the air can escape around the sides, that actually helps the cooling. It's a similar reason as to why having the fins further apart helps air flow through, basically it works better at lower fan speeds (= quieter)because it takes less effort to push the air through the gaps. Either way, you could just try it and see?

Fins further apart is for passive operation i think, more closely packed fins would improve active heat dissipation, but hinder the passive operation which is what the ninja was designed for.
