Shroud from CPU fan to outside of case effective?

I have seen a couple of OEM examples of a shrouded fan outlet from the CPU hsf right out of the back of the case. I've seen a limited number (can't find a link right now) of an aftermarket kit with a plate that mounts on the hsf and a short length of flex (like a small version of dryer vent hose) tubing attached to the fan opening in the case.

I'm running an XP 2500 @3200 with an Alpha hs with a high velocity fan.

Would it be wise to shoot the air coming off of the CPU right out the back?

I also have four high velocity fans (two in the front and two in the rear) of my Antec SX-840 case, plus my Antec Trupower p/s has a fan on the bottom.

It just seems to me that since the CPU is the biggest source of heat it would help to give it it's own outlet.

P.S. I have an ATI 9800 Pro with the stock hsf.

Thanks.

Works for Dell. I use 4 x 80mm rear exhaust fans. Works the same way I suppose, but a little bit louder. :)

Yes it would be wise to shoot the air out of the case, other wise it remains in the case and keeps the case hotter.
In turn totaly defeating the purpose of the HSF.

Damn I just threw one out. I dunno, quite honestly my temps went down when I took that unit off. It actually shipped with my Fong Kai 320 case and I recently upgraded my HSF to a 900a with a 92 mm Vantec Stealth fan and ditched the scoop/fan unit/ stock HSF. Much better results.
