I need to shrink a partition on my HD so that it will be smaller than the capacity of the SSD I plan to clone it to. The drive in question is 250GB and contains the 4 partitions that HP configured it with when I bought the netbook about 6 weeks ago. The problem is that I can't shrink the C drive below about 108GB even though the drive only has about 35GB in use. I suspect the page file and other hidden/unmoveable data is there and wonder how best to shrink the partition down to, say, 70GB. I was able to shrink it down to 108GB but it won't permit me to go lower. The drive, as originally shipped, had 4 partitions as such:

sys 199MB

C about 200GB

HP Tools about 13GB

Recovery about 4GB

How have you tried to shrink it? from within windows? Try a linux live CD and use Gparted.
