Question shrink disk space

My drive c is running out of space. Now i have shrink volume d and 40 gb is now unallocated space .Is there any way i can add this free space to drive c without reinstalling windows?

Make a Linux bootcd and use gparted to shuffle free space.

Are C & D on the same drive and next to each other?

Backup D then delete partition D. Then extend C, make a new D partition, and restore D's contents. Use Windows Disk Management.

Show us a screenshot of Disk Management. If the "unallocated space" is IMMEDIATELY to the RIGHT of the C: volume, it should be trivial to "Extend" the C: volume.

Otherwise, you'll have to resort to a bootable Linux USB to move partitions around, and pray.

If you don't feel comfortable using Linux, for whatever reason, you can using a backup/imaging tool like Macrium, to image the disk and parititions, and then wipe and restore the partitions from the image, this time specifying their sizes.
