"Shrek and Fiona return from their honeymoon to find a letter from Fiona's parents inviting the newlyweds over for dinner. The only problem is that they have no idea that their daughter is now an ogre."

I can't believe the number of "2" movies that are coming out or have been announced/rumored.

Shrek 2
X-files 2
Dirty Dancing 2
Spider Man 2
Scooby Doo 2
Oceans 12
Gladiator 2
XXX 2
True Lies 2
Ice Age 2
The Bourne Supremacy

And then there's the 3 and 4 movies

Mission Impossible 3
Blade 3
Mad Max 4
Star Wars 3
Indiana Jones 4
Jurrasic Park 4
X Men 3

And I'm sure I missed a lot too.

While I won't say booo! like Amish does to everything, I have to admit that Shrek is a highly overrated movie. I still liked it overall, but it shouldn't have gotten the classic status that many people are placing upon it. Why? One, it's not a timeless movie, and two, despite its unpolitically correct appearance on the outside, its underlying message is one of political correctness. You can't make fun of Disney movies and then become one yourself.

How can they have Gladiator 2 when the main character is dead at the end of version 1?

And, I would love to see Blade 3, Mad Max 4 & Indiana Jones 4

Shrek 2 (should be good)
X-files 2 (crap)
Dirty Dancing 2 (WTF? CRAP)
Spider Man 2 (should be an entertaining 1:40)
Scooby Doo 2 (teh goggles...they do nothing!)
Oceans 12 (has potential)
Gladiator 2 (Booooooooooooo)
XXX 2 (Poooooooooooooo)
True Lies 2 (who knows)
Ice Age 2 (should be humorous and worth a rental)
The Bourne Supremacy (I'm assuming the borne identinty follow up? Probably will be crap)

And then there's the 3 and 4 movies

Mission Impossible 3 (should have stopped after one)
Blade 3 (Should have stopped after one)
Mad Max 4 (should have stopped after 1)
Star Wars 3 (should have stopped after first trilogy)
Indiana Jones 4 (hopefully it will meet the hype)
Jurrasic Park 4 (should have stopped after one)
X Men 3 (First two were excellent, can't wait for the third)

And I'm sure I missed a lot too.

I know Harrison Ford is going to damn near be a Senior Citizen in Indiana Jones IV but that doesn't diminish my thirst for more Indy! I hope they don't screw Shrek II up and keep it as enjoyable as the first.

Can't find a link right now, but I'm almost positive (95% or so) that Gladiator 2 takes place BEFORE Gladiator 1. You get to see Maximus as he leads his men in various battles.

Didn't wanna read to much and spoil the movie, but I can now confirm that the movie will indeed be a sequel and will take place 11 years after the original. How they work Russel Crow into this movie is beyond me.
