When i disconnect my PD capable laptop from my 65W PD charger, (via usb c to usb c cable), after charging y laptop sufficiently, the status shows plugged in with the plugged in icon in my system tray.. This charging led stays on even after i shut down the laptop and the status remains unchanged when i reboot. The only way to end this is to open up the laptop back cover and disconnect the battery terminal to mobo (or perhaps allow it to drain to zero).

....now for the clincher! If i pd charge via the pd charging port on a usb c dock all is fine when i disconnect and the led and status behaves as it should

Could someone figure out what is going on. This is the first time I am using a pd charger for laptop. Is ther some special way to disconnect?

I use an Avita laptop with BIOS updated and ports cleaned

Thanks for any help on this

seems like a software glitch or driver issue may be causing your laptop to incorrectly display the "plugged in" status after disconnecting the charger. Try resetting your power settings via CMD and reinstalling the battery management drivers through Device Manager. If those don’t work, consider checking BIOS settings or performing a battery calibration. If the problem persists, try consulting Avita support.

Although not common, looks like there are similar complaints seen on the networks for HP laptops especially.

Below is a procedure recommended by someone on another forum to resolve a power complaint (with an HP laptop). This method below should pretty much do a thorough reset of the laptop charging system.

Here is the link:

Good Luck
==============

"This may be worth trying.

First of all, shutdown the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter, remove the battery, and then hold down the Power button for a full minute.

Now, plug in the AC Adapter and start the PC without the battery inserted, start the notebook, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager, expand the entry for Batteries, right click on the Microsoft ACPI Compliant Control Method Battery and select Uninstall - do not uninstall anything else here.

When the uninstall is complete, shut the PC down, unplug the AC Adapter, re-insert the battery and then start the PC on just the battery. Windows will automatically reinstall the driver - leave Windows running for a few minutes.

Shutdown the PC again. Now plug in the AC Adapter ( with the battery still inserted ) and start the PC to see if the battery now charges correctly.

Best wishes,
