I've always avoided for no knowledgeable reasons, but I'm gonna be late if I wait much longer.

Is this rational to even worry about it?

Sorry to hear you have no indoor plumbing. What do you do during the dry season?

eh, pipes are grounded, you don't have anything to worry about. The lightning would much rather go to ground through the pipes than come through the water, through you and then arc through the bottom of the bathtub....

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't see it happenin'. ;)

lol...

meh. I'm going to try and find statistics about people killed by lightning while taking a shower. I would be willing to bet that it's lower than people struck by lightning while outside.

While finding that, see if you can find something as difficult as stats of people reporting getting wet during a rainstorm as opposed to indoors.

Lightning would need to hit just outside your window in contrast to hitting the ground in the area and having the current travel through the pipes.

Lame mockery attempt failed.

Well, anyway.. Apparently it's a pretty big problem. Makes sense. I guess I wasn't just thinking on a large enough scale. A lightning strike produces a lot of energy, plenty to saturate a metal pipe..

*Owned* indeed. :)

Maybe, but perhaps only because people that aren't stupid enough to be standing around outside in lightening also aren't stupid enough to take a shower during lightening? :)

The point is who gives a flying f&ck? You're alot more likely to get killed driving to the grocery store than being electrocuted in the shower.

With this perspective, since there is a better chance of getting killed driving to the grocery store via the highway than a grocery store a few blocks away, there's no need to be cautious en route to the closer store.

Know the risks, consider 'em, then apply the appropriate amount of caution that one might feel the situation warrants, for themselves. Uhm, thanks for your input though. :)

I responded to a woman that was knocked unconscious from a lightning strike while using her stove. I would avoid showering if I were you.

Gladly, I will. Because I'd rather live life than live life in fear of every little thing that has less chance of happening to me than winning the lottery.

I agree with you. Knowing that I have a greater risk of dying from a falling piano than getting electrocuted in the shower, I'll gladly take a shower whenever I choose to. I'm not saying it can't happen. I'm just not going to get worried about it.

Ouch, thats a painful lesson.

I tried to tell my wife about that and she hit me, and all I did was suggest it might be a better time to grab the broom instead! :p

Was it an electric stove or something? How does that happen?
